my definition of love changed… for the better

I used to think love meant losing yourself in someone else.

Now I know—real love brings you home to yourself, again and again.

This past year taught me lessons I didn’t know I needed.
Grief cracked me wide open.

But on the other side of sorrow, I found a deeper capacity to love.

So now, I invest my energy where love lives:

In real friendship—the kind where you can be honest, even when it’s messy.

In self-love—the kind where you not only accept, but celebrate the parts of you that are imperfect.

And in clear boundaries—the kind of love that holds people accountable and lets go with grace when necessary.

5 unexpected ways starting a newsletter changed everything

In 2019, I started a little email called Good Morning Sunshine.

One drawing. One short note. One goal:
To spread joy in a world that desperately needs it.

247 emails later—it changed my entire life.

Here are 5 unexpected ways starting a newsletter changed everything

1. It got me my first paid illustration contract.
No pitch deck. No outreach. Just someone on my list who saw the joy—and hired me.

2. It helped me find my voice.
Not just as an artist. But as a writer. Turns out I had a lot to say. I just needed a place to say it.

3. It made me a better creative director.
Writing every week taught me what makes people feel. That’s the power of consistent copywriting.

4. It gave me the guts to self-publish my first book.
No waiting for permission. Just my audience, my words, my way.

5. It literally got me a book deal.
Yup. Someone on my list read my emails…And offered me a deal.
You never know who’s reading.

If you’re a creative who’s been thinking about starting a newsletter…this is your sign.

I made a workshop to help you launch your damn newsletter already → https://socurious.co/newsletter-workshop/

it’s okay to be afraid. do it anyway

You almost launched a newsletter last year.

You bought the domain.
Wrote down a bunch of ideas.
Even picked a font (obviously).

But then you told yourself:

“I’m not ready.”

“No one will read it.”

“I don’t have the perfect niche.”

“My writing style isn’t defined.”

“I need a cute header first.”

“This is harder than I thought.”

Now it’s a year later—and nothing’s changed.

If you’ve been sitting on the edge of your dreams, I found something that helped me finally press send.

And I think it might help you too. It’s called Launch the Damn Newsletter Already—a workshop designed to get you out of your head and into motion.

You’ll leave with:

✅ Your newsletter launched

✅ Your first two emails written

✅ A simple plan you can actually stick to

Sign up here: https://socurious.co/newsletter-workshop

refill your cup first

You deserve the same care, rest, and kindness that you so freely give to everyone else.

Not when you finally get a break.
Not when everything is done.
Not when you’ve earned it.

Now.

Because the version of you who is running on empty is not the one the world needs most.

The world needs the version of you who feels grounded.
Replenished. Whole.

The one who remembers that they are allowed to receive love, too.

So take the nap.
Say no.
Pause.
Put your hand on your heart and ask, “What do I need today?”

Then give yourself the gift of answering honestly.
