On Friday, June 20th, I deposited $4,800 into my bank account.

I felt… calm. Secure. Like I could finally exhale.

I even went to the store and bought the good lotion. (EOS Shea Butter, if you’re curious.)

That weekend felt like a small vacation. For the first time in months, I didn’t panic-scroll through my bank app.

I had more than enough—to pay rent and make the final $3000 payment on a reality show I was booked on called Blox.

But by Wednesday morning, the money was gone.

The project fell through. The invoice reversed.

I think I got scammed. But honestly? I’m not sure.

Rent was covered, thankfully. But I was suddenly scrambling to figure out how to cover the bills due by the 15th—and rent for August.

Welcome to small business life for a professional creative in 2025.

Here’s the thing:

Over the past year, I left a toxic corporate job to build something that spreads joy.

But the first six months were just about healing.

I’d hit a level of burnout where it took all my energy just to feed myself daily.

I had to process what happened in that workplace—and examine the deeper question of why I’d become an overworked, burnt-out people pleaser in the first place.

The next six months were about dreaming big—and taking bold action, even when it terrified me.

Every month, SoCurious made a little more:
From art shows.
From Joy Bombs.
From unexpected consulting opportunities.

Momentum was building.

My dreams were starting to feel real.

Until July—when everything suddenly froze.

That moment forced me to ask the hardest questions of all:

Can I keep doing this?
Should I keep betting on myself?
Do I have what it takes to make this dream sustainable?

And then… I had an idea.

A workshop.

Launch Your Damn Newsletter Already.

I built it in two weeks.

27 people signed up.

And it was enough to sustain me through this month.

But more than that, when I taught it—I unlocked another new version of me: I love teaching. I’m doing what I’m meant to do.

But it was so much bigger than newsletters.

It was about helping creative people trust themselves again.

It was about turning the 15+ years I’ve spent chasing every creative dream into something useful, encouraging, and tangible—something that supports my community.

And maybe even more importantly, it helped me reclaim the confidence that was taken from me in that toxic corporate job.

The honest truth: I haven’t promoted my coaching business because I was still carrying the doubt, the anger, the frustration of feeling like I’d been not just taken advantage of—but emotionally and professionally abused.

So now, here we are.

A make-or-break moment for SoCurious.

I’m not afraid of this project ending anymore.

But I am going to fight like hell to keep it alive.

Because I know what this brand can do.

I know for a fact that JOY is the revolution.

It’s already changed lives—including mine.

So here’s the plan:

I’m aiming to generate $10,000/month from SoCurious to keep this dream alive.

$6,000 from coaching, workshops, and creative education (Personal sustainability for me)

$4,000 from product sales and support from folks like you

(Money to create content, art, and experiences for the world)

That means I need to build recurring revenue.

That means structure.

That means separation.

So soon, you’ll start to see distinct newsletters:

🌞 Good Morning Sunshine — for humans who want more joy

✨ Creative Reset — for creators who want to grow

🛍️ Shop SoCurious — for lovers of colorful cards, joy-filled gifts, and new product drops

🎁 Patrons Only — for the behind-the-scenes crew who fund the mission and get early access to everything

You can pick and choose which ones to follow.

Or stay on all four—if you’re curious like that.

And if you believe in this work.
If you believe joy is the revolution.
I need your help.

If you believe in the weird, wonderful thing I’m building—
Now’s the time to show it.

One filled with art, joy, healing, and creative courage.

Let’s keep it going. Together.
