9 Positive Quotes and Affirmations for Anxiety Relief and Stress Reduction

by | Articles

Anxiety has become a normal part of our everyday lives.

It can show up as worry or anxiousness.

You can be nervous about what will or won’t happen.

Or it can be a general feeling of unease that something bad could happen in the near or distant future.

The good news is that there are healthy coping mechanisms available to you to manage your anxiety and stress.

One useful tool for managing anxiety and reducing stress is to use positive affirmations and quotes.

These tools remind us that while there is so much in our lives that is outside of our control, there are many things we can do to find peace within ourselves.

As an outlet to manage my anxiety, I started illustrating my feelings. Writing short love letters to myself to remind me that I should keep going. And as I started posting them to my instagram, I learned that everyone needs a little more hope in their day to day lives.

Here’s a collection of positive quotes and affirmations for anxiety relief and stress reduction.

1. You have so much more power than you even realize

Oftentimes anxiety limits our mindset and makes us believe that we are smaller and less important than we actually are. But in reality, you are powerful. You are strong. And you have so much more power than you even realize.

2. You always have a choice

There’s so much outside of our control. The world is moving and changing rapidly and it can be daunting. But we always have a choice. We choose our actions. We control our mindset. We can see the brighter side and invest in finding peace and joy in every situation no matter the circumstances.

3. Every day is a new chance to start fresh and begin again

There will be good days and there will be bad days. The beauty of being human is that regardless of how today went, when you open your eyes the next morning, you have another new beginning–another opportunity to build the life you want to lead.

4. Don’t let worry steal your joy

Worrying is a lot like sitting in a rocking chair. You’re constantly moving, but you’re not actually going anywhere. While you’re thinking the same thoughts over and over again, it’s not actually going to change the situation. And in fact it could sometimes have you severely stressed about something that probably won’t happen. And don’t get me wrong, as a chronic overthinker, I’ve done my fair share of worrying, oftentimes over nothing. But this is the reality. We actually don’t know what will happen next. So given the opportunity to choose, it might be better to choose joy. Joy offers a lot less stress and a lot more peace.

5. Even in uncertainty there can be peace

You don’t actually have to have it all figured out. But you can trust that no matter what comes your way, you’re ready to face it.

6. Be kind to yourself

The most important relationship you will have in this world is with yourself. So above all else, you must always choose to be kind to yourself. This starts with your inner dialogue. Don’t beat yourself up for past mistakes. Instead talk to yourself like you would a child. Acknowledge mistakes (of course) but give yourself encouragement and room to grow.

7. You can go easier on yourself right now

The past few years have been exceptionally difficult for everyone. But regardless of where you are or where you’ve been, the fact that you are here is something worth celebrating. You don’t have to be the Instagram version of you 24/7. You can go easier on yourself right now.

8. You are worthy. You are loved. You are human.

Being human is hard. And it’s important to remember that you are always worthy–everyone is always worthy. You don’t have to be perfect to receive love. Literally all you have to do is exist. You are worthy because you are here.

9. You deserve all the good that life has to offer

Some days might be harder than others, but you still deserve all the good that life has to offer. That dream that you’re afraid to talk about… it can still happen. Open your heart up and recognize that you deserve it all.
